Dr. Steven Poliakoff
Dr. Steven Poliakoff is an Investor/Partner and Senior Advisor in the Company. Steven R. Poliakoff, M.D., M.B.A. is the founder and CEO of South Florida Gynecologic Oncology Associates, Inc. (SFGOA) (drpoliakoff.com) and Executive Medical Director of The Women's Cancer Research Foundation. In addition, he is Chairman of Women's and Children's Services at Mt. Sinai and Miami Heart Medical Centers, Miami Beach, and on the Board of several prestigious medical organizations, having served as President of The American Cancer Society among others.
Having earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and his Medical Degree from the University of North Carolina, Dr. Poliakoff did his internship, residency and a fellowship at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Gynecology & Obstetrics, as well as additional fellowships at The University of Miami, where he was also an instructor and later assistant professor in their Division of Gynecologic Oncology. He gained a wealth of additional experience during externships in England at Queen Charlotte's Maternity Hospital in London and at the Radcliffe Infirmary's Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Oxford University, as well as at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. In addition to his extensive scientific and medical education, he earned an M.B.A. at the University of Miami Business School, as well.
His professional experience also includes research and visiting scientist positions at Cornell University, the National Institutes of Mental Health, the University of North Carolina Medical School, and the Department of Histology at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm.
In addition to his educational pursuits, Dr. Poliakoff developed a keen sense of empathy for the needy members of society, having been the Director of the lecture series "Perspectives on Poverty" while at Cornell, and having directed and hosted The New York City Conference on Poverty. This early interest in assisting those in need formed the basis of his formation of The Women's Cancer Research Foundation, whose mission is to provide research on new and unprecedented modalities for treating cancer.
Dr. Poliakoff has been practicing gynecology, gynecological oncology and uro-gynecology in South Florida for nearly 30 years, offering his patients state-of-the-art, customized treatment programs from the United States and around the world. His educational background, ongoing research and extensive network of colleagues, combined with his myriad awards and recognition from patients and peers around the planet speak to his dedication and constant vigilance in obtaining the most advanced means of treating women for all forms of gynecological issues. He is renowned for his diagnostic and surgical expertise and is affiliated with a long roster of the world's top professional and medical organizations.
