Thomas H. Harvey III

Thomas H. Harvey III is a Partner of the Company and was most recently Executive Director of the Center for Real Estate Development, Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill from 2004 through 2007. Currently an adjunct professor occasionally lecturing and assisting in the management of a student run real estate development fund. Highlights of tenure as Executive Director include the launch of an intercollegiate real estate development case competition and creation of a student managed real estate development investment fund both of which are a first for a business school. The Center also obtained a UN grant to manage a tsunami redevelopment project in Thailand. Board member of Grubb Properties, Inc., one of North Carolina’s oldest and largest urban mixed use developers. Grubb has a related investment entity that is run essentially as a private REIT. Until March of 2009, member of the board of directors of American Land Lease, a NYSE listed REIT.

Tom was Area President for Pulte Homes responsible for the $1+ billion in revenue Florida homebuilding operation encompassing the Pulte, DiVosta, and Del Webb brands. The Florida area was Pulte’s most profitable and the entities that reported to Mr. Harvey were recognized as the top area and division in the company each year. Mr. Harvey’s role was largely strategic planning, market positioning, and large parcel land acquisition. Mr. Harvey was involved in $750 million of land purchases. Created the growth strategy for DiVosta that resulted in an EBITA growth from $15 million to more than $100 million in 5 years. DiVosta also received the highest JD Power customer satisfaction score ever recorded by a home builder. The Florida area was also tasked with growing the Del Webb retirement community brand in Florida and responsible for the Sun City Hilton Head community.
Prior to DiVosta and the Florida Area, Mr. Harvey was responsible for creating a strategy and launching Pulte’s international operations in Chile and Argentina. In this capacity, he lived in Santiago, Chile and negotiated strategic partnerships with firms in both Countries.

Joined Trammel Crow Residential in 1989 and was responsible for the management and development of Harbour Island, a 177 acre mixed use development owned by Beneficial Corporation in downtown Tampa. After 3 years, TCR decided to exit the “for sale” housing business and focus solely on rental apartments. Mr. Harvey created Harbour Associates Inc and purchased from TCR the management and land option development for Harbour Island. Over Mr. Harvey’s seven year tenure at Harbour Island, the community grew from 200 residents to more than 2000 and was repositioned as one of Tampa’s most exclusive neighborhoods.
