Brian J. Collins
Brian J. Collins is an Investor/Partner and Senior Advisor of the Company. In June 2008 he became President and of Intrawest, the largest resort owner in North America (www.intrawest.com). He is the Founder, President and CEO of Colgate Development. Colgate Development, based in New York, was formed to develop mixed-use real estate projects featuring 5-star hotels. Colgate is currently developing a $250 million Ritz-Carlton condominium in Philadelphia and a Ritz -Carlton hotel for Bank of America in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is also doing a W Hotel in Beverly Hills, California and managing the development of a condominium on Fifth Avenue in New York City for Carlyle Partners.
Mr. Collins was a Principal and COO of Millennium Partners from December 1997 – February 2004 where he was responsible for $3 billion in assets. During his career at Millennium he held various positions including President and a Principal of Millennium Hospitality Partners and most recently a Principal and Local Partner of the Four Seasons Hotel & Tower in Miami, where he had direct responsibility for the development, sales & leasing of this $400 million project. It included 186 condominiums, 84 condo-hotel units, 221 Room Hotel, 45,000 square foot sports club and 200,000 square feet of class-A office space. Millennium Partners is the pre-eminent developer of mixed-use properties in the United States, having developed over $2 billion of projects since 1997. Brian was involved in all aspects of these projects. The development portfolio included five Ritz-Carlton Hotels (Central Park South, New York, Battery Park, New York; Boston Common, Boston; Washington, Washington, D.C., Georgetown, Washington), two Four Seasons Hotels (San Francisco and Miami) and four Sports Club/LA Mega Health Clubs. Brian has also been on the board of directors of The Sports Club Company (American Stock Exchange: SCY) since 1997.
Prior to joining Millennium, Brian was senior vice president of Carol Management Corp. and Doral Hotels & Resorts; two affiliated privately held hospitality and real estate companies. While at Carol Management Brian was responsible for the sale or joint venture of over $500 million of assets including the sale of the Doral Hotel & County Club in Miami to KSL Recreation; the sale of the Doral Ocean Beach in Miami Beach to a French consortium; the sale of the Doral Inn, Doral Tuscany and Doral Court in New York City to Starwood Hotels; and, the joint venture of the ownership of 90 Park Avenue in New York City. Brian was also responsible for the restructuring of over $500 million of secured and unsecured loans with some 15 lenders.
In the years prior to joining Carol Management Corp. in 1992 Brian completed numerous transactions as a real estate investment banker at Rockwood Realty (co-founder and president), The Harlan Company (vice president) and Eastdil Realty (vice president). Brian started his career in 1982 at Peat Marwick & Co. (now KPMG LLP) as an auditor.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Colgate University and a Masters of Science from New York University Graduate School of Business. He has also passed the CPA exam in New York State.
