Guillermo Amore
Guillermo Amore is an Investor/Partner and Member of the Board of Advisors of the Company. Mr. Amore recently retired as President and CEO of Terremark Latin America and remains a member of the Board of Directors of the parent company, Terremark Worldwide, Inc. terremark.com. Terremark is building the Fifth Tier-One Network Access Point in the world, which will be a major point of connectivity to the worldwide web and the key point of connectivity with Latin America. Throughout his career, Mr. Amore has played a major role in the growth of telecom infrastructure in Latin America.
Mr. Amore has nearly 38 years of telecommunications experience, with a focus on the developing markets of Latin America and the Caribbean. During a 33-year tenure at GTE Corporation he held several senior management positions. His last position was Senior Vice President in charge of GTE’s international telephone operations. Mr. Amore has built an extensive network of personal, business and political contacts in the region. During his tenure at GTE, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Compañía Dominicana de Teléfonos (Codetel), President of the Board of Directors of VenWorld Telecom of Venezuela (CANTV holding company) and a member of the Board of Directors of Compañía Anónima Nacional de Teléfonos de Venezuela (CANTV).
After retiring from GTE, Mr. Amore became President and CEO of Grupo IUSACELL S.A. de C.V., Mexico’s second leading wireless telecom provider. Upon his return to the U.S., he was appointed President and CEO of Spectrum Telecommunications, Inc., a Miami-based telecommunications firm with operations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru, which was acquired by Terremark Worldwide, Inc. in 2000.
Mr. Amore holds a PMD degree from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Colombia.
