Tom Boggs
Tom Boggs is an Investor/Partner of the Company and is a Washington, D.C. attorney and Chairman of the Law Firm of Patton & Boggs pattonboggs.com, ranked by many as the most important and influential Washington lobbyist. Chairman of the firm's Executive Committee, Mr. Boggs has spent his entire career in Washington. He is the son of the late Hale Boggs, Majority Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives and Member of Congress, 2d District of Louisiana, 77th and 80th to 92d Congresses; and Corinne Claiborne Boggs, Member of Congress, 2d District of Louisiana, 93d to 101st Congresses. He is married to the former Mary Barbara Denechaud.
Mr. Boggs has been ranked one of the top 100 lawyers in the United States by The National Law Journal every year since inception. He served as Economist for the Joint Economic Committee, U.S. Congress from 1961-1965; Coordinator, National Defense Executive Reserve, Executive Office of the President from 1965-1966. Mr. Boggs is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, the U.S. Court of Military Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Boggs is also a member of the American Judicature Society, and American Maritime and Federal Bar Associations.
Mr. Boggs has been a member of Patton Boggs since 1966. His legislative practice extends to health care, insurance, technology, tax issues, and international trade. He represents clients on a broad range of legislative and regulatory matters before state legislatures and agencies, the United States Congress and Executive branch departments, and foreign governments.
Mr. Boggs is credited with helping design and securing Congressional approval of the $1.5 billion federal bailout of the Chrysler Corporation, the largest bailout in U.S. history. Mr. Boggs is registered to lobby for over fifty corporations and trade associations, and has developed a substantial practice in representing state and foreign governments.
Throughout his professional career, Mr. Boggs has served in a variety of appointed positions including: the Presidential Commission on Executive Exchange from 1979-1981; a presidential delegate on the Trade Mission to the People's Republic of China in May 1979; a presidential delegate to the Independence of the Solomon Islands in July 1978; a member of the Charter Commission, Democratic National Committee in 1973; and a Democratic nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives, 8th District of Maryland in 1970. His memberships include National Board of Directors, Congressional Award Foundation (1990-present); Board of Directors, Suburban Mortgage Association Incorporated (1986-present); Board of Trustees, University of Maryland Foundation (1984-present); Board of Visitors, Duke University (1989-present); Board of Trustees, Chesapeake Bay Trust (1988-present); and Board of Directors, The Keystone Center (1995-present). Mr. Boggs is a former member of the Board of Directors, Eastern Air Lines Incorporated (1983-94); Washington BanCorporation (1985-94); Chemfix Technologies, Inc. (1988-95); and Board of Regents, Georgetown University (1987-91). He currently is a member of the Federal City Council.
